First steps

Last week the kitten we call Combat took its first steps outside the cosy cat cave where they stay. At first she struggled to get over the rim of the opening but after several attempts and with a determination never seen before she managed! At first she couldn’t walk very well but she learned fast! Soon she was crawling on me and she is so cute, both of her sisters soon began following her example and soon we had three kittens occasionally going out for explorations. The fourth one has not gone out yet and is a bit of a mommy’s boy. They have briefly met our other cats Fufi and Tesoro and Fufi is a bit scared of them but he is a gentle sole and would never hurt a fly! Kevin

Finally Rua’s kittens arrived, in  the wee hours of the night!

And finally on Saturday 3rd of December at around 2 am Rua broke her water and they started coming out… one at the time. Ginger was her first, and a couple of hours later, one after the other came his two sisters and several hours after, at about 7,30 Combat arrived, she climbed on her mum and latched immediately to one of her udders. By 8 am they were all happy and nursing away and getting all the good colostrum her mum produced for them and for their immune system. Rua was very very tired and so were we. She avidly ate the placenta the kittens came with, she drank a lot of fresh water and she went back to nursing. This was Kevin’s first litter and he was a great assistant. We had to help Rua a little with Combat as her mum was very tired and she seemed a bit stuck half way through the birth canal, but as soon as she came out she revealed her amazing combative, active and curious nature. She was also the first to come out of their nest and the first to climb on Kevin for pets… She wasn’t even 3 weeks old. Hope you will enjoy the pictures! Her 2 sisters, who look a bit like superheroes with their little eye masks are playing sweetly with their brother who is super cute and he reminds me a bit of Master Yoda with his years… but he’s a very handsome red boy and you will fall in love with him in no time.

Pregnant Rua

At the end of this September we found out that Rua had become pregnant with Tesoro. We are overjoyed that our Rua is finally going to become a mum. She finally stopped going in heat and slowly her belly began expanding until she was almost twice her normal width and she got worse at jumping as well. She is even more affectionate than usual and she does not appreciate Tesoro’s attention as much. She eats fantastically, plenty of fresh meat, organic liver and hearts. Organic eggs (the yolk part) and cooked fish… her mammals are growing with delicious milk for her kittens! We are proud to say that we mostly feed her homecooked food and only ever very high end cat food. Kevin

Food

I know that this makes people smile, but we do prepare homemade delicious food for our creatures. We want them to live as long as possible because we love them. Healthy mum Rua is rearing healthy kittens and they have a strong immune system having drunk all the good colostrum and milk mum produced and stored for them. Here is a good mix they love: fresh beef, organic beef heart and liver all slightly cooked and seasoned with celtic sea salt (it is a very good salt rich in healthy minerals). Rua eats fish and organic egg yolk… Fufi loves his egg yolk but the boys don’t like fish very much. Rua leaks our homemade kefir once or twice a week (an amazing source of probiotic) but I have to trick the boys to get some into them… girls know best!
